One of my favorite traditions is making the boys holiday care packages. Both Nate and I grew up with our parents doing this for us so it’s a fun thing to do for our kids now. We give them a little something for Halloween and Valentine’s Day. We used to surprise them with their gifts the morning of the holiday but have since found that it doesn’t make much sense to hold onto a pair of Halloween pajamas that they only wear Halloween night (if you’re like me, they can’t wear PJs that are out of season 😛 ). So this year, we gave them their bags on October 1st.

This is the theme we like to stick to:
SOMETHING TO DO (a toy or craft kit)
SOMETHING TO READ (seasonal book)
SOMETHING TO WEAR (we always do pajamas)
SOMETHING TO EAT (candy)
I find that it’s just the right amount of stuff to give them. I can get lost in the cute tchotchkes that are out every holiday – the Target Dollar Section kills me – but this is enough to fill up a little gift bag and it helps me not overspend!
Below I’ve linked everything I could find that’s in the boys’ bags this year. The older two also got a PEZ set (Target) and Shay got a recycled Etsy hat that both of his brothers have worn. Gotta pass down the cute Halloween beanie… #thirdchildproblems

If you like the idea of SOMETHING TO DO+ READ + WEAR + EAT – would you please share what you’re planning on putting together for your kiddo(s)? I’d love to hear. Happy Halloween! XO
This is such a cute idea! Where did you find your gift bags?
Thank you so much! Found them in the Target dollar section. 🙂
